Stars Edge

The Falling Star
intermission 1

(Quick Note: We were originally missing 2 players, so we went and ran a intermission episode instead.)

4 years before the TSA Training Academy, Fae and Harlee Qn17 where part of the crew of the Case vessel Miner113, a in system mining vehicle that would tour the system mining various material deposits between return trips to the Case homeworld. On it’s way past one of the moons in the system they are struck by an asteroid that went initially undetected before impact.

Fae and Harlee Qn17 are sent to identify the asteroid lodged in their engine deck while the rest of the 300 Case onboard fix the ship whose engines have gone offline due to the ruptures in the hull from the impact. As the ship is pulled into the moon’s gravity well, they make their way inward overcoming various obstacles such as ruptured plasma conduits and downed power relays.

As they proceed communications start becoming cut off with the rest of the crew on the ship. First the team working to restore power to the engines falls silent. Then random people come up missing. After this occurs Fae and Harlee Qn17 discover odd ‘growth’ along the ships hallways. They attempt to gather a sample before they are found by a bug like creature that stands on it’s rear legs much like a kangaroo. The creature pauses for a brief time before launching an attack as Harlee Qn17 tries to go for help while Fae tries to wrestle the fierce creature. This leads into a long chase through the deck until Harlee Qn17 manages to get to a weapons locker and acquire a pistol which she uses on the creature. The creature however is not dead and instead attacks Harlee Qn17 as Fae tries to subdue it. In the end they manage to finish it off, only to find most of the crew seems to be missing while they were busy with the creature.

The ship starts to bump into the atmosphere as Fae and Harlee Qn17 realize they need to get off the ship if they have any hope of survival.

To be continued…

The Dark Star
Episode 3

Part 1:

The Valor suddenly drops out of FTL and a collision alert warning sounds as everyone inside the ship is tossed around like rag dolls from sudden deceleration. As officers slowly get medical teams and engineering teams sent out to find out the damage to the ship, they realize they just barely avoided running into a Dyson Sphere. One that enclosed the star inside it and hence was impossible to see from a distance.

The system itself, or at least what part is outside the sphere, showed signs that the sphere was created several million years ago. Even those who don’t understand the staggering engineering behind this sight decide that it’s incredibly impressive. It’s also fairly dangerous and needs to be recorded so travelers don’t run into it.

The Engineering teams decide it will be a few weeks to repair the structural damage from the sudden stop at of FTL and so Shadey Rei decides to send 2 teams of 6 people down to the sphere to see what they can find while waiting.

Episode 2

The TSAV-0005 Valor arrives in their first extrasolar system as their first mission. The system has a handful of planets besides their target world, but none of much interest. The survey team is organized and a recon flight of the habitable world in a shuttle is assigned to Calixta and Zavvria Aschi. However the Valor itself will follow behind as they launch on the way inward to the planet and then proceed to do it’s own scans. If successful the recon flight would return and a second group of survey teams would be sent down to the best ground sites.

Calixta and Zavvria Aschi’s recon flight is changed when they nearly collide with an object that was floating in space near the planet. Upon taking a closer look the object they found is in fact an artificial object emitting faint traces of radiation and heavily shielded to remain undetected to most convention scans. Upon making this discovery a fission explosion occurs just off the Valor’s port side. It had been yet another one of these objects, which tells them these are in fact some time of fission space mines.

A series scan reveals that they are surrounded by mines, including one laying on the hull near the secondary bridge. Harlee Qn17 and Fae are sent to take care of the mine on the hull while Calixta and Zavvria Aschi are assigned the task of moving sufficient mines out of the way so the Valor can escape the minefield. While they start an unknown ships appears on the edge of their sensors and simply seems to watch them.

When they finally clear sufficient mines and take care of the one on the hull, the unknown ship moves toward them as they exit the minefield. It remains silent as it closes on their position and when it gets within ‘weapons range’ it finally sends a short message to the Valor. The Valor heads out of the system as the unknown destroyer follows them. By the time the leave they decode the alien language sufficiently to understand it said “We are the ”/campaign/stars-edge/wikis/torvaka-empire" class=“wiki-page-link”> TorvaKa Empire . We claim this system among many others. Today you live so you can spread the fear of us."

Outward Bound
Episode 1

(Quick Note: None of my players have wanted to post, so I’m writing the synopsis instead)

What has gone before:
Zavvria Aschi, Harlee Qn17, Calixta, and Fae meet Shadey Rei and Mercedes Lane on their senior trip up from the TSA Training Academy to the construction dock for the TSA-0005 Valor on the moon. The ship had been outwardly finished and certain key staff were already on board, the cadets were brought on to get experience on a working vessel. Several members of the group meet Ashley Evans and Mizzy. In general however the ship is less than combat ready.

Suddenly an announcement of an alien ship entering the system broadcasting a friendly greeting occurs and causes some disruption to the training schedule. The alien ship moves toward Earth and when moving past the Valor within it’s dock on the moon it opens fires and destroys the primary command tower, with the entire command staff in it. The Alien ship also sends down a shuttle to the Valor to make sure it stays out of the way. Shadey Rei proceeds to rally the crew, including the players, into bringing the ship online and kicking the invaders off the ship to help in Earth’s defense.

The first task is to bring the ships AI online while engineering restores power that was knocked offline in the strike. The players go to meet Shadey Rei outside the Artificial Intelligence room, encountering a group of armored troops on the way and then again outside the AI room where Shadey Rei was pinned down by such a group. After dispatching the troops they proceed to get the Valor AI online for the first time. It accesses the ships systems and helps them rest control of the ship from boarders.

The players then move back to the hangar deck to ready what few small craft are onboard while Shadey Rei gets the ship moving. Once it lifts off the Valor moves closer to Earth where the Alien ship is already beating down the UTG ships trying to defend the planet. The Valor launches it’s handful of fighters and scattering of shuttles and joins the fray. After a pitched battle the Alien ship is destroyed and the players take a brief rest as the TSA command recovers from the incident.

In the end many cadets have their lives changed by this day, including our players, but none more than Shadey Rei, who through the Valor AI’s recommendation becomes the new captain of the Valor. TSA command is not exactly happy she took over, but has little choice after the cadets saved the day.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
